Hamburg–Berlin railway line reopened after ten-month renovation
The general renovation of the important connection is completed. Trains are running according to schedule again, although there are still residual works and minor restrictions.
Construction work in Heidenheim: Piltz’sche Unterführung closed until spring 2027
Deutsche Bahn is renewing the railway bridge over the Brenz and converting the underpass to be barrier-free. From June 15, 2026, the Piltz’sche Unterführung will be completely closed to pedestrians and cyclists. Diversions will be set up.

Deutsche Bahn will close the Piltz‘schen underpass in Heidenheim from Monday, June 15, 2026, until spring 2027. The closure is part of work on the new Brenz railway bridge and the barrier-free rebuild of the underpass.

Over 90 rail projects in Germany at risk due to lack of funds
According to a media report, more than 90 rail projects are threatened with a standstill because the federal government is not providing sufficient financing. Criticism comes from the Alliance pro Schiene alliance, which is calling for an adjustment in the 2027 budget.

Construction start for new Huntebrücke bridge at Elsfleth: DB plans completion by 2028
Deutsche Bahn has officially started construction work for the new railway bridge over the Hunte at Elsfleth. The project is modeled on the Friesenbrücke bridge at Weener to enable completion by the end of 2027 or early 2028.
